Not happy that we were charged for the bisque considering the remarks from our server. We knew that Centro, the much-loved Northeast Minneapolis counter-service bar and restaurant known for its casual Mexican fare was coming to St. I had plenty of room but did not want to chance a disappointing dessert. She did not return until she asked if we saved room for dessert. My first two bites of risotto were very fatty. We Hadn’t had a chance to take a bite yet. Server returned to our table just as our meals were set in front of us and asked how everything was. So I guess I will have to ask for a sample from now on prior to ordering lol. Our server returned and said she talked to the chef and he agreed it “could have been better” she also said it depends on the chef that day how it will turn out. This bisque was full of chunky raw vegetables, the flavor was off and not a single bite of lobster. So much so that I asked our server if this was the lobster bisque. However Saturday night something was way off with the bisque. I absolutely love Coopers Hawk Lobster Bisque and could easily make a meal out of it. Ordered lobster bisque and short rib risotto. Make sure you come with an empty stomach, because you definitely will leave with full, satisfied, and with a to go bag. The plates are portioned just right for the price. The food was seasoned just right, the steaks were tender and cooked to perfection, and the drinks were mixed just right (bar tender was awesome). I had the petite filet mignon, 4 fried shrimp, twice baked potato, and vegetable medley.ĭessert- My husband had the carrot cake. Main Course- My husband had the 18 ounce New York strip steak and twice baked potato. Soup- My husband had the cheddar broccoli soup. The Valentine’s Day menu had excellent options that made choosing difficult. We had a 6:00pm reservation, thank goodness because the wait time for walk-ins was an hour to hour and a half. Dining at this establishment was a first for us both. My husband decided to treat me to dinner at Theo’s restaurant. Wouldn't have minded some cooked greens on the menu, too - but after all, this is NORTHERN Indiana! Overall, pretty well done for 20-somethings. Same true for hot links - a split and grilled presentation is best, I say! If I'd wanted brisket, however - my usual requirement is a grilling and slight blackening treatment of the slices. For a joint with no stove (only smokers and fryers), they're doing OK. My only criterion for curly fries is that they not flop around - these were crisp and fresh. The chili was also noteworthy for multi-textured presentation of meats - one can easily tell what was being eaten. There was minimal fat, and virtually no cartilage. Three puddles of their "not killer hot" sauces gave just enough juice as I dissected the pieces. They were, however, really well smoked and tasted richly of rub. These were neither, which might have dismayed some. Unless pulled hot from the smoker and chopped to order, tips are tricky - falling below oven temp they tend to harden and dry out quickly, if not sauced. So, a pound of tips, sides of chili and curly fries (arrived crisp as ordered) we were off to the races. Never off-put by a humble storefront (best recent BBQ reviewed at a GAS STATION in MO!), I sidled up to the counter.Ī very friendly young lady ran me down the daily specials, while a Q-master dude detailed the chili's contents. Trolling the Southlands for a late lunch, my phone led a jaunt East across the border, into Indiana. Though, on this last visit, we are left with slim pickens thanks to me. By the way, we get a family sausage and mushroom and a large spinach and mushroom to ensure leftovers. But, with limited time, we always order our thin crust pizzas to go and pick them up at the very convenient back window. During our next visit, we can't wait to try several of the dinners that come with meatballs which we should have tried long before this. We all agreed that the it was out of this world. The owner explained that everything was freshly made. On this last visit, we sampled the meatballs and sauce. If Giuseppe's opened a restaurant in the northern suburbs of Chicago, the visits would increase tenfold along with my waistline, I'm sure. We have to have this pizza every time we visit her in Schererville which, unfortunately, is only 4 or 5 times a year. My wife and I were introduced to Giuseppe's by her sister a little over 4 years ago. I think this pizza is better than the well known, highly rated establishments in the Chicagoland area. ![]() Reviewed By illinois52 - Lincolnshire, IL
